© ELECTRONIC DETECTION OF TERMITES
PRESS RELEASE - September 25, 2001

Protec USA, Inc., located in Coral Gables/Miami, Florida, announced today that it had entered into an agreement for the distribution of Termatrac® Pty. Ltd. of, Australia's TERMATRAC® termite detection device in the United States, Canada and other NAFTA countries.

The TERMATRAC® is the world's first electronic instrument that detects the movement of termites through solid objects. Invented and developed in Brisbane, Australia, the TERMATRAC® utilizes patented microwave technology to determine termite activity hidden below the surface of timber, plasterboard, ceramic, brick or masonry surfaces with no interference to the building material or termite activity. The microwave emission is less than that of a microwave oven or even a television.

The patented TERMATRAC® unit has been in development for more than 10 years and has been in commercial use in Australia. Explained simply, the TERMATRAC® emits signals that penetrate the material being searched. If these signals are interrupted by termite activity, the liquid crystal display will alert the pest control professional to this activity. This information will assists the pest control professional in tracking the extent of the termite activity and tracking the entry points to determine the most suitable treatment procedures. Most importantly, the TERMATRAC® permits the location and tracking of the termites without the need for damaging any physical property or opening any galleries. The TERMATRAC® device is well suited for almost all sites. It is best suited where there has been no disturbance to the suspect infestation site. Additionally, the TERMATRAC® unit can be used to monitor the infested site after treatment.

The TERMATRAC® device will be introduced at the NPMA Show in New Orleans at the end of October. For additional information, see Protec USA and the TERMATRAC® device at NPMA show Booth 735 or Contact Protec USA at 305-774-9211 or info@protecusa.biz
